The carat tube, also known as the high-density polyethylene structure wall hot-wound tube, is a new type of profiled wall tube made of high-density polyethylene hot-wound forming process. The product uses high-density polyethylene resin (HDPE) as raw material, PP or PE bellows as auxiliary support tube, and high-density polyethylene large-diameter wound reinforced tube produced by hot-wound forming process. Because this kind of pipeline was originally introduced by the domestic company from the German carat company, it is commonly known as the carat tube in China. 

The official name of this pipe in China is: high-density polyethylene structural wall hot-wound pipe, the national standard is GB/T 19472. 2-2004 B-type structural wall pipe. The product is an environmentally safe product with the advantages of light weight, strong pressure bearing capacity, high interface quality, long life, corrosion resistance, high ring stiffness and convenient construction. It is widely used in urban water supply, drainage and long distance water transportation. And farmland irrigation and other projects. The caliber is from DN300-DN4000. The pipe is light in weight and good in overall flexibility. It is the main pipe of choice for buried sewage drainage. 

The main advantages are: light weight: the hot structural wall winding tube is very light, so it can be easily transported during the installation process. The crane can be used in many engineering sites, thus reducing the installation cost; the ring flexibility is high: The carat tube has a very high ring flexibility. When the force is applied, the carat tube will transfer the load to the surrounding soil due to the deformation of the force. The soil will exert the opposite force and bear the load on the carat tube. The steel pipe (cement pipe) will bear the force generated by the load when the force is applied, and the force cannot be transmitted to the surrounding soil through the deformation. 

When the load is too large, permanent deformation and damage will occur; the connection is convenient and reliable: The pipe will produce the socket in the production process, so it can be connected by electric fusion or rubber ring. Ensure that the pipe is sealed without leakage after installation; the installation is convenient and fast: the carat tube is light in weight, generally 6 meters in length, and the installation is very simple. After the groove is dug, the pipe is placed in the groove of the groove machine, and each pipe can pass differently. 

Connection technology for connection; transportation: the carat tube is light in weight, the pipes of different diameters can be set together, so the freight is low and the transportation is very easy; chemical corrosion resistance: the carat tube and the matching pipe fittings are made of the same material (generally high density) Polyethylene or polypropylene, which is resistant to attack by a variety of chemical media and does not require preservative treatment.

In addition, it does not promote the growth of algae, bacteria or fungi, and has a service life of 100 years; the inner wall roughness is low: the inner wall of the carat is smooth and does not scale. The carton capacity of the same diameter, the same length and the same pressure is about 20% larger than that of the cement pipe, so the economic advantage is obvious; the wear resistance is good: the carat tube is made of high-density polyethylene or polypropylene. The wear resistance of the two materials far exceeds other materials such as cement, steel, etc.; environmentally friendly and recyclable: coiled pipe material, high density polyethylene and polypropylene can be recycled 100%.

However, the production of such a pipe requires a machine-shaped pipe manufacturing machine, so at the same time, the cost of the HDPE/PP Profiled Pipe Machine has become a hot topic of discussion among major players in the industry.

The profiled pipe making machine is confirmed with international standard such as EN13476, DIN16961, ASTM F894,  it is very light, long service life of 100years.This machine is equipped high output extruder what can be customized. The output is from 600kg/h to 1500kg/h.  But its cost is not impressive .
